Google announced today that users of its Google Apps for Education
applications are exempt from the automatic analysis of emails that is conducted with the aim of providing users with ads designed specifically for them.
In mid-April, Google updated the terms of service to reflect that it is conducting an automatic analysis of users ’content, including e-mails, in order to provide personalized content suitable for the user, such as determining search results, designing ads and monitoring spam And malware.
The educational Google applications service is used by 30 million students, teachers and administrators in schools around the world, and it provides them with applications for the e-mail service "gmail" and applications for documents and spreadsheets, and other applications for free.
Google previously disables ads by default within Google educational applications, and last year completely removed ads from search results that appear to those who log into the service, with the ability to activate the feature of ads appearing on the main management platform for applications. Now the activation option has been permanently removed.
"Google" was not satisfied with the exception of Google educational applications from the process of analyzing automatic emails, as the new step included "Google applications" users of the government and business sector.
And the company promised "Google" to disclose more details related to this step, and that it will inform users upon completion of implementation.
